NFCC Arson Reduction Lead Officer

NFCC Arson Reduction Lead Officer

The NFCC's Arson Reduction lead officer, Steve Johnson, is retiring from Cleveland Fire Brigade in April 2022 and therefore the NFCC lead role will become vacant.

We are now seeking Expressions of Interest from enthusiastic and forward thinking individuals who are well versed in the Prevention and Partnership working arenas to continue  NFCCs work in this important area. The role would be most suited to an individual either working towards, or at, Group Manager (equivalent) level or above.

A lot of work has been undertaken over the last 3 years in elevating the profile and importance of reducing deliberate fires, the new postholder will initially work to review and refresh the NFCC Arson Reduction Strategy and progress the creation and implementation of the good practice sharing portal. This may involve reconvening and chairing the Arson Reduction Task & Finish groups.

It is hoped that a hand over will take in February/March 2022 to enable the successful new lead to seamlessly progress support to NFCC’s Home Safety Committee and continue work with stakeholders including the Home Office’s Anti-Social Behaviour Strategic Board. Attendance at both of these takes place on a quarterly basis, with planning and strategy development meetings as required.

The new post holder will liaise with other NFCC lead officers and report to Chief Fire Officer Rick Hylton as the Chair of the Home Safety Committee, meeting quarterly usually in London or via TEAMS.
